You Can’t Measure That

The internet is full of shady statistics.

Even accurate statistics are used to tell half truths or lead you to false conclusions. You already know this, of course. Nobody needs to remind you that numbers are easy to manipulate.

For example, that stat that’s been floating around claiming that there have been more “mass shootings” than days of this year might be technically factual, if you’re willing to include in that figure all incidents of gang violence, defensive firearm uses, inner city scuffles that resulted in minor injuries at best, and events that were alluded to in news outlets but may not have actually occurred.

A World Without Guns

Every time there’s a call for more gun control, or for outright firearm banishment, it’s based on the idea that if there are less guns in circulation, there will be less violence. Proponents of this plan frequently imagine a world with no guns as a safe place where humans have evolved past the need for mindless violence, where nobody has to lock their doors or worry about much more than the most minor of offenses.

It’s dangerously easy to depend on our Facebook news feed, daily evening news, and a few favorite websites as our sole sources of information – in short, there’s so much information that crosses our paths naturally every day that it takes some serious effort to actually go looking for MORE…and if you do decide to look, there are heaps of worthless junk to sift through before you find something of value. This blog, suspecting that we didn’t know the whole story about guns used in crimes, did just that, and what we found out was at once surprising and illuminating.

New Common Sense Regulations Announced after Deadly Accident

Not One More Death

In response to an overwhelming public outcry for safer roads and common sense reform after the tragic death of a promising young teenager in a drag racing incident, Congress has reacted by introducing a bill that, if passed, will implement a series of common-sense regulations designed to keep streets safe for our children.

What is it?

This initiative has been dubbed the “Vehicle Safety Act” and aims to make sure that tragedies like the one this weekend never happen again.
